Congratulations to 11th grader Denice Moran on taking home the 1st place at the 2015 Gettysburg Address competition in May 14th! Denice will be performing the speech again at the Yonkers Memorial Day parade. We are so proud of her.

Seniors, Graduation is a little more than one month away. In order to complete district reports, EVERY senior needs to come to the College Center on Thursday, May 21st between 3rd and 7Th period with a copy of every Acceptance, Denial, and Financial Aid Letter as was as to inform Ms. Rivera Kirby of whether you are in EOP, HEOP or SEEK.
The first 75 seniors will be entered into a raffle to win a gift card from Chipotle and Dunkin Donuts. There are 3 prizes which will be drawn at the Senior BBQ.
Go to the College Center regardless of whether or not you brought your information in.

We have a wonderful opportunity to offer a free after school program. The program is available after school Mondays and Thursdays until 4:30pm. Buses will be provided to selected bus stops. All students who are currently signed up for the TASC program should come prepared to participate. Those students who wish to sign up should download the application and turn in the complete copy to Ms. Connally.
Attached is the application and the bus schedule. Please have your child circle the bus stop that is most convenient. If you don't see a stop that works well, please have them write their regular bus stop on the form. We will try to make accommodations.

Columbia and Duke Academies welcomes Senator Andrea Steward-Cousins
The academies of the Middle School celebrate monthly themes and develop a culminating awards ceremony. This month’s award ceremony will focus on being good citizens. In the month of April students participated in activities that included: raising awareness for Autism, attending the Harvard University Early College Program, volunteering at the Yonkers Clean-Up Day and other activities. Senator Cousins will visit YMHS on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 1pm to celebrate “Good Citizenship Month”. We hope you will join us.
